HEALTH
We inform and educate young adolescents on issues concerning adolescent and sexual reproductive health. We empower them to take up the challenge of living a healthy lifestyle. Our primary concern is on adolescent health issues and sex education with much emphasis on unsafe abortion, unwanted pregnancies, premarital sex, use of contraceptives, Drug abuse and alcohol, HIV & other STIs. We also work with women by educating and informing them on female related diseases such as cervical and breast cancer, child birth and contraceptives, Sexually Transmitted Diseases
EDUCATION
Every child has the right to education, therefore developing our youth and teenagers all start with education. Our education programs are aimed at promoting 100 percent access to adolescent sexual and reproductive health issues. But it doesn’t stop there. We want them to stay in school and achieve successful learning outcomes.
Teenage pregnancy and school dropout are major factors that can have a negative influence on the lives of teenagers. Especially, girls who fail for their exams will risk their future without further options than to idly stay at home and fall temptations to deviant behavior. in order to prevent this, Dreams Alive is running various campaign and educational programs to encourage and empower these girls to rewrite their exams in other to get back in school.
We believe that the lack of comprehensive sexual health education and services causes another series of potential risks for adolescents. When facing problems like sexual violence, sexually transmitted infections, teenage pregnancies or unsafe abortions, chances are high that youth will drop out of school. Therefore, SIO-GHANA has built up a broad range of programs supporting and promoting the sexual and reproductive health of young people by providing appropriate education and supporting rights-based advocacy activities.
We also intervene to provide educational assistance to needy but brilliant children especially in rural communities by providing them with educational materials such as books, pens, school bags etc. and other logistics needed for an effective learning.
ENTREPRENEUSHIP
Finishing Senior or Junior High School level is not a guarantee for a safe future. But it certainly offers more opportunities than without an education. Not everybody can go to university, therefore our skills and entrepreneurial programs are aimed at providing start up opportunities for young people to build up working experience and entrepreneurial skills.

WHY WE INVEST IN ADOLESCENT SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
- We want to create a conducive and healthy environment for young people to learn about their own sexuality and that of the opposite sex.
- To provide avenues for young people to address their sexual and reproductive health needs.
- To help prevent the spread of STDs including HIV/AIDS among young adults as prevention is less expensive than treatment.
- Early sexuality, marriage and pregnancy have adverse effects on the wellbeing of individuals especially females. Developing programs that lead to postponement of marriage and child bearing will help improve the general health of individuals and the society.
- We believe that the adolescent period is an opportune time to promote good health practices as part of the general education towards responsible adulthood.in the long run, it becomes beneficial to inculcate in the youth some of the positive behavioral patterns which they are expected to acquire and practice throughout the rest of their lives.
Young people are either considered not old enough to make use of certain services and facilities such as family planning or are considered too old to attend child care clinics. However, it is known that the sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescent and their health seeking behavior are different from those of the adults. Therefore, designing programs and activities with and for adolescent themselves will help to address their specific reproductive health needs.
